Scott Beauchamp, First Grade (email link)
In first grade, Courtyard students build the reading and writing foundation on which so much of their education will rest. Guiding them is Mr. Beauchamp (pronounced BEE-CHUM), who has more than twelve years of experience teaching young children the foundational skills they will need for a lifetime of achievement. .
Besides polishing reading skills and introducing more challenging texts as the year progresses, Mr. Beauchamp helps his students become independent learners. He reinforces positive behavior, hard work and best effort in every endeavor, while providing his students with a safe and nurturing learning environment. His students keep daily journals and share their thoughts and drawings.
A liberal studies graduate of the University of the Pacific with a teaching credential from Saint Mary's College, Mr. Beauchamp is an avid swimmer, runner and sports fan who competes in open water swim contests. For the last 15 years, Mr. Beauchamp has also coached swim teams and taught swim lessons.
"Courtyard is special because everyone knows each other in our small school environment. We are like one big family!"
