Courtyard School is a private, non-profit, independent school serving a socio-economically and culturally diverse student population in grades K through 6. We follow a traditional school year (September to mid-June) and offer a full-day Summer Camp (mid-June through August).
The school is located at 205 24th Street in Midtown Sacramento.
The curriculum at Courtyard School closely follows, and exceeds, the standards outlined by the California State Department of Education for each subject area. Through field trips, hands on activities, guest speakers, projects, and other enriching activities, the curriculum is embellished to pique student interest and foster critical thinking skills. In addition to the core subjects, Courtyard employs specialist teachers to provide instruction in Spanish, performing arts, and physical education. As a measure of academic achievement, Courtyard students consistently score above the 70th percentile on standardized tests, with many achieving in the high 90th percentile ranking.
The Courtyard staff and faculty believe that children learn best in a supportive community where parents and educators alike strive to develop an atmosphere of mutual respect. Through positive action and example, the Courtyard community works cooperatively to develop value systems which reflect an awareness of relationships with the environment, an appreciation of the creative and aesthetic qualities of the arts and sciences, and the promotion of better understanding among all individuals.
The Courtyard School Board, made up of 12-15 members, is comprised of individuals from the community and parent body who are committed to the pursuit of the educational objectives of the school. Donating their time and efforts, the Board members are responsible for setting policy congruent with the Mission Statement of Courtyard Private School.
